Let’s be real. Life. Can be overwhelming. Some people seem to have more than their share of chaos thrown at them… and if i’m not careful, i can lose sight of the joy and peace that is available to me, should i choose it. It’s easy to have peace when life is sailing along smoothly on calm seas, but when the waves began to roar and the boat is barely keeping afloat, you will discover where your joy is rooted. i’m not talking about happiness. For happiness is a surface emotion; an “in the moment” feeling that is based very much on circumstances. But joy? Joy my friend, is hidden in the depths of your soul – far beneath the surface, unable to feel the changing winds of life. Joy is the very thing that settles who i am in God and steadies my life. i assure you, happiness cannot be found in the ER Trauma Unit at 3am with your child. But joy can. i don’t know what days and weeks ahead will bring to our lives, but i do know this – that God is good. The God that provides life also provides indescribable joy, calming comfort and overflowing peace. And for that, i am eternally grateful.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
This was written last month in my child’s hospital room after a massive internal bleed. That event led to the ER Trauma Unit, hospital admittance, 1 1/2 hour ambulance ride to her specialty hospital ICU, four units of blood, platelet infusion, multiple blood clotting treatments, and a week spent in the hospital. When i say i understand your struggle parents, know that i truly do. We are in this together.
Much Love,
TyiaLynn
